I fell in love with the Wonder Twins as soon as they opened their mouths when I was reading "Jacob" (almost exactly 3 years ago). Now 15 Guardian books later (I'm including the 2 Shadows, Montana Guardian, and the Christmas novella) , the final part of the Wonder Twins story is here.I can honestly say that I hated the author for separating the Twins but now I see that Dixon really needed to put his demons to rest. We are given a book where we must watch Dixon suffer in his isolation from friends, family, and any support from Guardian. We are kept guessing as to where everyone's allegiance lies. Even though I loved the whole book, I felt that the last third is where this book really shines (but take my opinions with a grain of salt as I read for the story and not the sexy parts).You cannot go wrong with ANY Kris Michaels' book. Whereas each book could be read as a standalone, grab the series and read it in order for the most enjoyment. A few years ago I picked up the first book of this series for free. Over the years I've found a lot of new authors this way. I figure, I'll start the book, and eh if I don't like it, no money was wasted and I'll take it out of my library. That was not the case with Jacob, book 1. I instantly fell in love with the book, the series, and the author. I've devoured almost everything that Kris has written since reading Jacob. I honestly struggled at work early Monday morning when I finished the book I was reading, because I knew this was hitting my kindle the next day. What to do for an avid reader? start something or wait. I waited, as I knew I'd be busy all day when I got off. Worth the wait it was.I loved this book for many reasons, partly because you were guessing through the whole book. When I read Dixon's first encounter with Joy, I was convinced we'd met her in another book, but I was laying in bed supposed to be sleeping, and the whole series isn't on my kindle but in my cloud. The next morning I went back to ASP and read that epilogue, and then I realized that Shadow operative had a different name, so maybe not. Then I would spend a lot of time debating the identity of the operative checking in with Jason, was it Joy, or was it Smith, who worked for Dixon's dad. That is just how good of a writer Ms. Michaels is, that she can keep you guessing for almost the whole book...We learn more about the devious organization known as Stratus in this book, which they've been rearing their ugly head in the last few books, ASP, and Drake specifically mentioned this sinister group, with alluding to them in some previous books, but maybe not sure where the problem was or who was behind attempts to sabotage Guardian.I loved that there was a conversation with the whole Alpha Team about basically passing the torch to the younger generation. Some may say this is the end of the series. But those of us die hard fans that follow Ms. Michaels on Facebook know there are more books planned. It IS the end of the era for the original Alpha team, they have all found their HEA and are settling down with their families. However, there is a frame work for many more books. There are more Shadow members who deserve their HEAs. Ms. Michaels has promised her fans to some day share the stories of Gabriel and his wife as well as Frank and Miss Amanda. Plus there's Gabriel's children who are now adults, and lets be honest most of the Kings have offspring now, and well some day we may see their story. Lindsay Mckenna did this with her Trayhern family and I ate them all up. As I would if Ms. Micheals does.I can't wait until the next one, which Ms. Micheals is keeping close to her chest, she admits it will be a Shadow Operative, but that is the only hint we have so far.
